WE ARE COMMITTED TO DEVELOPING INNOVATIONS FOR MORE SUSTNABLE MATERIALS

Harnessing our profound expertise in materials science and a passion for innovation, we are diligently working to address global environmental challenges and minimize our impact on the planet. By focusing on eco-frily advancements across fabrics, we're reshaping how materials are created.

RECYCLING INITIATIVES AND ECO-FRILY DYEING

To protect waterways and combat climate change, we're pioneering several innovations designed to reduce the demand for virgin raw materials while conserving resources. The use of recycled materials significantly decreases the extraction of new resources and reduces energy consumption and water usage during resource extraction.

Solution dyeing is one such technology that's revolutionizing textile fabrication by incorporating colorants into the polymer form before yarn extrusion, resulting in fabrics deeply colored without further processing. This not only cuts carbon emissions and water use but also enhances light-fastness compared to conventional methods.

By adopting this technology, we are not just mitigating our environmental footprint; it also delivers superior color retention even over time.

RECYCLED CONTENT AND LIMITATIONS

With a strong commitment towards sustnability, Gore offers a range of recycled textiles including polyester derived from repurposed PET bottles. Approximately 4,000 recycled plastic bottles are used to manufacture just 1,000 meters of backer textile. Our goal is to become Global Recycled Standard GRS certified, ensuring the authenticity of our recycled content clms.

REDUCE MICROFIBER RELEASE INTO THE ENVIRONMENT

The presence of microfibers in the environment has rsed concerns for the apparel industry. While there's limited understanding about their potential impacts, we're committed to minimizing our environmental impact and advancing knowledge on this complex issue. In 2019, Gore conducted a comprehensive internal study under an indepent external partner, Hohenstein, utilizing a Leeds University-developed method. The findings suggest that the majority of consumer GORE-TEX laminates exhibit low microfiber release.

We are an active member of Microfibers Consortium TMC, which facilitate practical solutions for the textile industry to reduce microfiber emissions throughout manufacturing and product lifecycle.
